BARRINGTON – Barrington Middle School Prairie Campus students presented "Annie – The Musical" May 1 through 4 at the school, 40 East Dundee Road in Barrington.

The show was directed by Prairie choral director Carol Sesso, who will be retiring at the end of this year. "Annie" was her last show. Sesso has been at Prairie for seven years.

Ellen Werksman, owner and director of Dancewerks in Barrington, choreographed the performances.

More than 70 persons – Prairie students in grades six to eight – were cast, including Holly Snyder and Julia Stegvik who played Annie and several more lead roles such as orphans, Hooverville persons, dog catchers, dancers and the Boylan Sisters.

The students had been practicing since January. Prairie presents two performances per year – one dramatic play in the fall and one musical in the spring. Most of the cast had participated in Sesso's choir class.
