HINSDALE – Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Board of Education President Claudia Manley announced Thursday that Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South high schools have been named among the top high schools in Illinois based on two recently released, prominent national rankings.

The rankings by U.S. News and World Report and the Washington Post reflect an examination of data from thousands of high schools across the country, according to a news release from District 86.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Hinsdale Central seventh and Hinsdale South 34th in Illinois on its annual list of the “Nation’s Best High Schools."

Similarly, Washington Post ranks Hinsdale South High School 11th and Hinsdale Central High School 14th in Illinois on its annual list of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools.”

The annual lists, both released in April, include pools of open enrollment public schools as well as those with selective enrollment, such as private, magnet and charter schools.
