Softball roundup: Pivaronas leads Wheaton Academy split against Westmont

Wheaton Academy’s softball team split a doubleheader against Westmont on Saturday.

In the team’s 9-2 win against the Sentinels, Marissa Gagliano, Jessica Bosse and Andi Pivaronas all had two hits.

Pivaronas also was the winning pitcher, striking out four in a complete-game effort.

Wheaton Academy defeated East Aurora 19-2 April 24 as the team jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first inning. Hannah Bolds was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs,

Autumn Ratliff was 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Gagliano went 3-for-3 with two walks, three runs and two RBIs. Mason Elliott added a triple and two RBIs.

Ratliff also was the winning pitcher, allowing no earned runs while striking out five.

Wheaton North

The Falcons defeated South Elgin 6-3 on April 24 behind a 3-for-4 performance at the plate from Rosie Craine, who also drove in a run. Kat Meyer was 2-for-3, Hannah McCarthy drove in two runs and Bree Zbilski scored a pair of runs.

Jessica Kieta was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits in a complete-game effort.

A day later, the squad lost 5-1 to Lake Park.

Wheaton North dropped a 16-6 decision to Naperville North on April 23.

Kelly Thornton contributed a home run, two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs and Meyer was 2-for-2 with a home run.

Wheaton Warrenville South

The Tigers fell 13-0 to Naperville North on Friday.

Two days earlier, WWS dropped a 5-4 decision to West Aurora.

West Chicago

The Wildcats notched a 24-0 win against East Aurora on Saturday.

The squad was coming off losses to Bartlett and St. Charles North before the win.

St. Francis

With Bailey Zydek providing a walk-off RBI single, the Spartans beat Aurora Central Catholic 8-7 Friday.
