Prep roundup: East soccer riding streak of shutouts

Earlier in the week East routed Addison Trail 7-0 and Romeoville 8-0.



After shutting out each Proviso school, 5-0 against West on Saturday and 4-0 against East on Tuesday, the Warriors blanked Walther Lutheran 5-0 to open the Niles West Tournament on Wednesday.



Downers Grove South recently swept the Warriors 11-1, 8-1 and 9-7. Mike Rothmund was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored in Monday's 9-7 finale.

Addison Trail

The Blazers took a game off of Leyden, but lost the series. The Eagles won the opener 10-3 and spoiled a nine-strikeout effort from Joe Kurucar to win the finale 3-2.

Frank Amato gave up just five hits in a 4-1 victory in the second game.


Glenbard East

West Aurora (11-3) and Naperville Central (10-0) beat the Rams in DuPage Valley Conference games earlier this week.


Rosary beat the Broncos 1-0 Tuesday.


Glenbard East

Before taking on DuPage Valley Conference leader Lake Park Thursday, the Rams defeated Naperville North 25-22, 25-16 on Tuesday.

Addison Trail

The Blazers lost for the first time this season 25-19 25-19 to defending state champion Downers Grove South on Tuesday.


Glenbard East

Molly Kirsch, Stephany Flores, Anaiyeh Smith and Corinthia Jordan teamed up to finish second in the 4 x 200-meter relay at Wheaton North's Falcon Blue and Gold Invitational.

Individually, Tasia Banks was fourth in the 100 and Angela Kerndl was fourth in the high jump.


Molly Krawczykowski won the 800-meter run at the Red Devilette Invitational on Saturday by more than five seconds. She teamed with Kayla Denwood, Taylor Burton and Shannon Jones to win the 4 x 800 relay.

The Warriors were second in the 4 x 400, and Jada Stills won both the shot put and discus.

Kaleen Smith was third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the triple jump at Oswego East's invite Saturday. Lauren Kroll was fourth in the 100. Both runners helped the 4 x 200 relay take fourth out of 15 teams. The Blazers were ninth overall.


Jasmine Woodley won the discus and Brittany Fisher won the 800-meter run at the Glenbard South Lady Raider Invitational on April 17. Fisher was also third in the high jump.

Second place finishers were Kelly McNamara (long jump), Maddy Jamrozek (400) and Gianna Salzbrunn (300 hurdles). Montini was fourth out of eight teams.



The Warriors took second at the Lake Park Invite on Saturday and then swept Proviso West 7-0 on Wednesday.


After losing against Chicago Christian 3-2 on Tuesday, the Broncos knocked off Proviso East 4-1 the next day.



The Warriors finished seventh out of 13 teams by scoring 128.15 points at Wheaton Warrenville South's Dave Donaldson Invitational on Saturday.

Addison Trail

Marco Martinez was seventh in the high bar and ninth in the all-around at York's Kevin Scorza Invite on Saturday. AT took seventh out of 10 teams with a score of 127.1.

Glenbard East

The Rams scored 123 points to finish eighth out of 10 teams at York's Kevin Scorza Invite.


4-1: Final West Suburban Gold record for Willowbrook badminton, which defeated Addison Trail 14-1 Wednesday.

47: Points scored by Glenbard East badminton to take second out of six teams at the Hinsdale Central Invite on Saturday.

3: Hits allowed by Montini softball pitcher Lauren Trojnar in the Broncos' 5-0 win against Aurora Central Catholic on Monday.

15: Runs scored by Willowbrook softball in a 15-12 victory against Morton on Monday.


BASEBALL: Montini hosts St. Francis, which was the runner-up in Class 3A last season, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER: Glenbard East hosts Willowbrook at 6:30 p.m. Thursday five days after they are scheduled to meet in the Niles West Tournament.

SOFTBALL: Willowbrook softball hosts Downers Grove South at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in a matchup of the two favorites in the West Suburban Gold.
