Montini junior pitcher Sean Frontzak has been dealing lately. Tuesday he shut out Aurora Christian while allowing just three hits and one walk. In his previous start on April 17, Frontzak gave up just one run on four hits. Frontzak, this week’s Oak Trust Credit Union Athlete of the Week, talked with Suburban Life sports reporter Dan Santaromita about the Broncos’ play so far and pitching with his brother, Eric, who tossed a shutout against Aurora Christian the day before Sean.
What’s been working for you on the mound?
It’s just working quickly and the fielders have been doing their jobs behind me.
Montini started 11-1; was this kind of start an expectation of the team?
It’s expected because we have a lot of returning seniors. Everyone knows their role.
What goals do you have for the season?
Our team’s ultimate goal is to get to state in Joliet. I think we have a good shot.
Obviously you don’t typically pitch on the same day, but what’s it like having your brother also in the rotation?
I pitched with him in travel during the summer, which was an added bonus. It’s the Frontzak one-two.
