Spouse of Villa Park man who drowned after swan attack files lawsuit: reports
VILLA PARK – The spouse of a Villa Park man who drowned in 2012 after a swan attack is suing her husband's former employer and the condo complex where he worked, according to media reports.
Amy Hensley filed the lawsuit Monday in Cook County Circuit Court against the Bay Colony Drive condo complex in Des Plaines, Hillcrest Property Management and North Barrington-based Knox Swan and Dog, LLC, the employer of her husband, Anthony Hensley, according to reports.
Hensley, 37, a father of two, died April 14, 2012 after drowning in a pond at the condo complex. Hensley, who tended a pair of swans at the facility, was attacked by one of the birds, causing his kayak to topple, according to reports. Dive crews reportedly found Hensley's body after searching the pond.
Swans are sometimes used to fend off geese. The lawsuit claims the defendants "know or should have known that mute swans are strongly territorial with a dangerous propensity to attack," according to reports.
