Public works seeks volunteers for Pride Week cleanup

Published: Thursday, April 17, 2014 4:14 p.m. CDT

LOMBARD – The village of Lombard is looking for volunteers for its annual Pride Week Clean-Up Day on May 10.

Pride Week 2014 will be held May 4 to 10. Traditionally, the week is held prior to Lilac Time to encourage residents to take pride in their community and to initiate spring cleaning in order to get the village looking its best for visitors.

In addition to the annual cleanup around the village and on the Illinois Prairie Path and the Great Western Trail, volunteers will also remove invasive plants from destroying native species. The village's public works department is organizing an effort to clear out Buckthorn, Honeysuckle, Japanese Knotwood, Beautybush and others along the 5 miles of local bike trails.

To volunteer, contact Assistant Director of Public Works Dave Gorman at 630-620-5740.
