LOMBARD – The Lombard Village Board on Thursday approved an ordinance that will decrease building permit fees in order to make them more competitive in the marketplace.
Trustees voted 5 to 0 at its regular meeting to approve the ordinance. District 1 trustee Dan Whittington was not present for the vote.
This is the first time the fees have been adjusted since 2010. The fee schedule was initially reviewed to encourage property owners to seek permits and to streamline the code for ease of use internally.
Highlighting the ordinance is a $93 decrease – from $168 to $75 – in the inspection fee for water and sewer projects. An additional fee of $68, or $65 for single and two-family homes, would be added on if a re-inspection is necessary.
The Lombard Board of Building Appeals previously recommended approval of the building permit fee amendments. The new fee schedule is expected to go into effect April 28.
