Montini's baseball team is 9-0 after three more wins over the past week. Austin Pohlman had three RBIs in an 11-0 win against Harlan on Saturday. Austin Kline and Kyle Jackson had two hits each in Wednesday's 6-4 victory against Wheaton Academy. Rhett Wojkovich, Tom Long, Kyle Jackson and Pat Hennessey had two hits each in an 8-1 win at IC Catholic on Thursday.
The Rams split a doubleheader with Lockport on Saturday. Scott Borosak, John Allen and Joey Moore had two hits each in a 9-6 win in the first game. Bryce Roberts was 2-for-3 in the 14-3 loss in the nightcap.
Anthony Esterly pitched a shutout against West Aurora in the Rams' DuPage Valley Conference opener on Wednesday as East won 2-0.
Alyssa Ressinger, Delaney Pelsor, Olivia Domin and Alex Kassal each had two hits in a 10-0 win against Elmwood Park on Saturday.
The Warriors then lost to two-time defending Class 3A state champ Glenbard South 8-0 Wednesday.
After starting the season 1-4, the Broncos have won six games in a row. Emily Lezcano hit two home runs and Sara Ross hit one in a 10-2 win against Rosary on April 11. The Rams made it to the final of their own Springfest tournament on Saturday by defeating four teams, including defending champion Downers Grove South, before losing to Glenbard West in the final 25-21, 17-25, 18-25. East then defeated Glenbard North 25-18, 25-17 on Tuesday.
After going 2-3 at the Warren Invite last weekend, the Warriors dropped a match against Lyons Township Monday. Willowbrook got back in the win column by defeating Leyden 25-16, 22-25, 25-13 on Tuesday. Ben Wozniak had 11 kills and Anthony Acitelli had 17 digs in the win.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Juan Valdez was third in the 800-meter run at Glenbard South's invite on Saturday. Albino Lucero placed third in the 400 and Matt Oliva was right behind him in fourth. Darrion Conrad took fourth in the 100 and the 200.
Jimmy Funteas was sixth in the 1,600-meter run at the Wheaton North Invitational on Saturday. The 4 x 800 relay was third.
Dylan Maher was second in the triple jump at the Gary Johnson Bulldog Relays at Riverside Brookfield. Eddie Laviste (pole vault) and Jack Brady (long jump) each took fourth.
The Rams were third at the eight-team Willowbrook Invite on Saturday.
The Blazers took third at their own Fred Dennis Invitational on Saturday with 129.35 points.
The Rams were fourth out of eight teams at the Fred Dennis Invitational hosted by Addison Trail on Saturday. East scored 124.76 points.
The Warriors were fifth at Hinsdale Central's Anthony Canino Invitational on April 11. Colton Bach was fifth on the vault and Keawe Winstead was fifth on the pommel horse. Winstead took second on floor exercise at a Hinsdale South invite on Monday. Bach was third in rings and the Warriors also were fifth at that invite.
