York’s baseball had a bye week from conference play over the weekend, but returned to the field Wednesday against Simeon. The Dukes won, 5-4, despite getting outhit, 9-4, by the Wolverines. Mitch Miner, Brendan Ryan and Seth Dvorak combined for the pitching effort on the mound.

Tuesday’s scheduled game against IC Catholic was postponed, meaning it was a slow week for the Dukes. They last played Saturday in a doubleheader against Trinity. York won both games, 10-7 and 8-6, to improve to 6-4 on the season. It was a crucial sweep for playoff seeding since the Blazers are in the same sectional as the Dukes. Sarah Milkowski was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in the 10-7 Game 1 victory. Amanda Karnatz was also 3-for-4. Lauren Lahey blasted a three-run home run and finished with five RBIs. Abby Solem also hit a home run.
In the second game York got 3-for-4 days from Gabby Magnifico and Karnatz at the top of the order. Solem hit another home run, giving her six for the season.
After winning the first six games of the season, the Lady Knights dropped the next five. Losses last weekend to St. Viator (12-4) and Westmont (7-6) continued the streak heading into Thursday’s scheduled game against Guerin. Gabby Curran scored three runs in the loss to Westmont.
Timothy dropped an MSC game to Ridgewood 15-2 on Wednesday. Before that, the Trojans last played on April 11, when they defeated Guerin, 7-6. In that game, Samantha Leide singled in Mariah Robinson for the winning run in the seventh inning.
