LOMBARD – Glenbard East held its own from the run of play against two-time defending state champion Naperville North, but the Huskies won the game via the set piece.

Abbie Boswell scored less than 90 seconds into the match after a free kick into the penalty box fell at her feet. She cleaned up with a clinical finish.

In the third minute of the second half a similar play resulted in a Allison Svoboda goal off a corner kick.

"Goals on two set pieces, obviously we need to address that," East coach Kent Overbey said. "I thought we did a great job defensively. They put people under pressure and I thought we dealt with it well. It's two set pieces. That can be the difference."

The Rams (7-2-1, 1-1 DuPage Valley Conference) were unable to get on the board against a stingy Huskie defense. By the middle of the second half the snowfall made playing conditions difficult. The ball was leaving a visible trail on the turf as it rolled through the snow.

East returns to action Thursday in another conference match against Glenbard North at 6:30 p.m. in Lombard.
