MA1 Christensen cooks up winning recipe
Among the many events taking place to observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month was a chili cookoff on the quarterdeck of Bldg. 1.
Six brave sailors entered their creations, trying to earn the title of Naval Station’s best chili cook. About 40 sailors, staffers and friends attended the event, which was held in part to keep this important issue in front of the sailors.
MA1 Brent Christensen took home the top prize for his recipe while Naval Station Great Lakes Command Master Chief Michael Renbarger won second place and was awarded for the honor for the spiciest chili in the competition. SH1 Crystal Frank finished third and FC1 Allison Daniels earned honorable mention. There were six entries served to judges and audeince.
The contest was judged by Les Thielbar, NSGL administrative officer; Amanda Hanner, a local SARC; Lt. Cmdr. Stephanie Speakman, victims legal counsel; Jay Bailey, Navy Criminal Investigative Service; and NSGL CMC Renbarger.
