Hinsdale Central’s boys gymnastics team earned a score of 135.750 and finished fifth at its own Canino invite on April 11. Lyons Township won with a score of 153.80.
Jack Schmidt had a strong showing in the all-around, and teammate Ryan Leahy was sixth in the all-around with a score of 47.00.
Leahy’s best showing was on vault, where he scored an 8.80 and finished fourth.
Schmidt’s best score was an 8.60 on vault, and his best finish was fifth on parallel bars with an 8.40.
The Hornets earned a team score of 128.70 and finished seventh at Hinsdale Central’s Canino invite on April 11.
Ryan Alsip was fourth on the horizontal bar (7.350) and Adrian Siaw scored a 42.10 to place 14th in the all-around.
The Hornets then hosted their own Tom Kordewick invite on Monday and scored a 126.40 to finish third.
Siaw won on floor exercise and vault with identical scores of 9.30. Eddie Murphy was second on vault (8.80), Alsip fourth on horizontal bar (7.0) and Mark Howell fifth on floor exercise (8.50).
The Red Devils swept both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader against Glenbard East.
In an 11-8 win in the opener, Emma Day had four hits and drove in two runs. Lauren Excell had three hits and scored twice, and Faith Koffron scored three runs as Annemarie Tracey earned the pitching win.
Excell, Day and Riley Burr had RBIs and Excell, Koffron, Tracey, Alysa Doneske and Annie Bruns scored runs in a 5-4 win in the second game. Courtney Berlin was the winning pitcher.
Holli Jones drove in two runs and hit a home run and Rachel Soukup scored twice, but the Hornets fell 12-5 against Lemont in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday.
Morgan Majcen had two hits, a run and an RBI and Sarah Hanson also scored in the game.
South fell 3-0 in the first game against Lemont.
The Red Devils defeated Oak Park-River Forest 25-16, 25-20 in a West Suburban Silver match on Tuesday.
The Hornets went 1-4 and finished in 15th place at Glenbard East’s Springfest tournament on Saturday. They defeated Larkin in their final match.
Facing Naperville North on Tuesday, Central pulled out a 5-3 victory.
Hinsdale Central/Hinsdale South
The Red Devils won both matches in a boys-girls doubleheader against Hinsdale South on Monday. The boys won, 9-6, and the girls won, 13-10.
In a battle of two of the best teams in the West Suburban Gold, the Hornets defeated Willowbrook, 11-4, in a dual meet on Tuesday.
The Red Devils defeated Deerfield 9-0 at Burns Field on April 9.

Baseball: Bragging rights will be on the line when Hinsdale Central travels to Hinsdale South for a 4:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
Girls soccer: It's a key West Suburban Gold showdown when Hinsdale South hosts Downers Grove South at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Girls track: Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South will both compete in Central's Devilette invite at 1 p.m. Saturday.
