CRESTWOOD - If there was any doubt left, Lemont's baseball team proved on Wednesday that it belongs in the conversation of the top high school squads in Illinois after the Indians dismantled Mt. Carmel 11-2.
The Indians stayed undefeated on the young season while the Caravan, who began the season as the top-ranked team, lost for the second time.
Mike Papierski put Lemont up for good in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run homer which broke a 1-all tie. Jake Terrazas followed with a two-run bomb to center.
The Indians then put the game away with five more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two run singles by Charlie Wright and Mike Wisz.
Jake Latz made his first start of the year and struck out eight in four innings of work. Wright pitched the last three frames.
