Illinois Policy Institute commends Wheaton for online transparency
WHEATON – The Illinois Policy Institute has awarded the Wheaton city website high marks for transparency, according to a news release from the organization.
Wheaton was one of three municipalities tested in the institute's latest round of auditing to receive 90 or above on its 100-point scale for quantity and quality of information posted.
Contact information, budgets and audits are among the items on the 10-point transparency checklist used to evaluate the 25 most recently audited towns. Those that scored 80 and above received the Institute's Sunshine Award.
Lombard was the only town to receive a perfect score on the evaluation, while Wheaton came in second, with a 92.3, and Bartlett finished with a 90.6. Eight failed the test, including Carol Stream at 49.7. Romeoville finished last at 29.7.
