Cook Sheriff's officers find human bone near Lemont

LEMONT – A human bone was found April 1 in a Cook County forest preserve near Lemont and Bluff roads earlier, according to a Cook County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Spokesman Ben Breit said he could not give any information on why officers were digging in the forest preserve or what kind of bone it was because it is an ongoing investigation.

According to Cook County Medical Examiner spokesman Frank Shuftan, the discovery is being considered a companion case to an April 2008 case when bones were found in the same area.

The cause of death from the 2008 case was undetermined, he said.
