Elburn resident Blanche Clegg, 86, was at the monthly meeting of the Elburn Seniors when she answered eight questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Chicago

First job? At the food counter in a dime store when I was in high school.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Nothing special. I worked at Sears before I got married.

A book you’d recommend? “The Princess Diaries” by Meg Cabot

Favorite charity? Veterans of Foreign Wars

What game show would you be on? “Shop ’til You Drop” and “Wheel of Fortune”

Favorite local restaurant? TGI Friday’s in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I met my husband in 1948 after he came home from the service. He was in the Army. We were married 39 years when he died, and he’s been gone 26 years. I raised four children. I have eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
