Scouts from the Woodridge area are interviewed by reporter Mari Grigaliunas during their visit Monday to the Suburban Life Media newsroom in Downers Grove.

WOODRIDGE – Cub Scout Pack 512 Den 3 from Woodridge visited the Suburban Life Media newsroom Monday to learn about how a newspaper is put together.

Six scouts, who attend St. Scholastica School in Woodridge, made the field trip to the newspaper office, located at 1101 W. 31st St. in Downers Grove. The group learned how news stories are researched and written, and also how the stories are put together to form an edition of the newspaper.

The Scouts, Daniel Sherman, Joe Nowak, Lucas Marcotte, Preston Malysa, Cameron Vlasic and Roan Fallon are working on earning their Tiger badges.

"We're working really hard," said Daniel, 7.

They have already earned badges for hiking and building a fire.

Lucas, 6, said his favorite part of Cub Scouts is camping because he gets to sit around the campfire and roast marshmallows.
