Face Time with Margie Anderson
Elburn resident Margie Anderson, 79, was at the monthly meeting of the Elburn Seniors when she answered 12 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.
Where did you grow up? Burlington ... the youngest of five
Pets? A schnauzer named Allie, and Alvin, a chipmunk that lives in the back yard
Who would play you in the movie of your life? Marjorie Main
First job? Detasseling corn in Burlington for 70 cents an hour, eight hours a day, seven days a week for three weeks.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher. I became a teacher for a while, then an administrator for special education.
A book you’d recommend? “My Beloved World” by Sonia Maria Sotomayor
Favorite charity? Anything to do with children with special needs like Special Olympics, and my church, Hosanna Lutheran in St. Charles.
What game show would you be on? “Concentration”
Do you speak another language? German
Do you play an instrument? Piano
Favorite local restaurant? Gen Hoe in Geneva
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? My husband and I are married for 61 years. I dropped out of college to get married, and it took me 13 years to finish, but I made it.
