Village starts 5-year contract with Allied Waste Services

Published: Wednesday, April 9, 2014 1:51 p.m. CDT

LA GRANGE PARK – The village of La Grange Park recently signed a new five year contract with Allied Waste Services which will go in effect this month.

The village conducted a survey to gauge residents’ feedback on their refuse and recycling habits in October 2013. Following feedback, the board chose to continue with its current program.

The new five-year contract will still offer residents the flexibility to choose a disposal option that best suits the needs of each household, while offering a competitive price, maintaining a reliable service and keeping Thursday as the villagewide garbage day.

All households will be charged $5.10 per month on their water and sewer bill regardless of the selected program because of the fixed costs for community refuse services.

Along with the new refuse agreement, Allied Waste Service also will be providing residents with option to rent a landscape waste toter. The toter will allow residents to remove yard waste instead of using the yard waste stickers.

Residents who choose the landscape toter can rent either a 65-gallon or 95-gallon for a standard monthly fee.

The monthly fees – $20.85 for a 65-gallon toter or $22.85 for a 95-gallon toter – will be for April through November. For the remaining four months, residents will be charged $2 per month for the toter.

For residents who choose to stay with the sticker program, individual stickers can be picked up for $2.90 each at Village Hall or local grocery and hardware stores. Households using the sticker program must also use their own 35-gallon garbage can.

For information, contact the village at 708-354-00225 or visitlagrangepark.org.
