Competing in the Illinois Top Times Class 3A Championships on Saturday, Glenbard North senior Simone Carr came in third place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.96.
She also competed in the prelims of the 60 dash and was 11th after crossing the line in 8.01 seconds.
The 4 x 200 relay grouping of Carr, Ariana Hammersmith, Ann Stacey and Destiny Wright came in eighth in 4:10.76. The 4 x 200 relay team of Allison Wahrman, Carr, Jackie Howard and Stacey was 10th in 1:49.83.
Wahrman also finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet, 9.75 inches, and Tasia Collins was 13th in the shot put with a distance of 36-8.50.
The Panthers won their first three games of the young season after defeating Elk Grove 4-2 on Monday.
Kyle Crites was the winning pitcher, striking out six, while Matt Albin and Nolan Jasinski had two hits apiece. Sam Ledbetter also drove in a pair of runs.
But on Tuesday, Glenbard North suffered its first loss as it dropped a 5-1 decision to Fremd in a game that was a lot closer than the final indicated. The Panthers led 1-0 heading into the sixth inning before the visitors scored two runs in that frame and three more in the seventh. Alex Barrett, Luke Greenberg and Chris Murray each knocked out doubles.
The Spartans beat Fluvanna County (Va.) 12-0 on Monday behind the pitching of Jason Sullivan, who fanned seven in four innings of work. Nick Dama had two hits and three RBIs.
The Panthers began the season with a 5-4 loss to West Chicago Tuesday. Glenbard North scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead, but the Wildcats answered with two runs in the top of the seventh. Sydney Benz had a triple, and Stephanie Campos added a double.
Behind a dominant pitching performance by Amy Goldsmith, the Wildcats beat Willowbrook 3-2 on Monday. Goldsmith struck out 16 batters in a complete-game effort and allowed just four hits.
West Chicago then came back and beat Glenbard North 5-4 on Tuesday after scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Jenna Foreman was the winning pitcher.
The Wildcats defeated Bartlett 3-0 as part of the South Elgin Invitational. Katie Reitz and Alexa Vega scored off assists from Kayla Kirkwood, and Alli Oglanian also tallied a goal.
