BOLINGBROOK – A Minooka man is facing charges after allegedly setting fire to a Bolingbrook business Sunday morning.

Michael S. Smith, 40, was found sleeping inside a building in the 400 block of West Boughton Road after a fire was extinguished in the front of the business, according to police.

Smith, who was found with "numerous empty beer bottles next to him," allegedly used a lighter in his possession and materials at the business to start the fire, police said.

Smith allegedly resisted arrest and struck a police officer when officers attempted to take him into custody, according to police.

He was charged with aggravated battery and criminal damage to property and was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, police said.
