Man dead after traffic crash in Mundelein

MUNDELEIN – A 49-year-old Mundelein man is dead following a traffic crash Saturday in unincorporated Mundelein.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased male victim as Brian E. Martin.

At about 4:30 p.m. Saturday the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a traffic crash on Midlothian Road, south of Wortham Drive, in unincorporated Mundelein, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

A red 1997 Toyota was traveling southbound on Midlothian Road when the driver allegedly lost control and entered the northbound lanes, according to the release. The Toyota collided with a silver 2004 BMW X5 traveling northbound on Midlothian Road. 

Martin, driver of the Toyota, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he died, according to the release. The three occupants of the BMW were treated and released from Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
