DOWNERS GROVE – Lombard Cub Scout Pack 42 visited the Suburban Life Media newsroom Monday to learn how a newspaper is designed and put together.

The Scouts, who attend Hammerschmidt Elementary School, learned how news stories are researched, written and edited before being printed in the newspaper during the field trip to the newsroom, 1101 W. 31st St.

The Scouts are trying to earn the communication portion of their Tiger badge.

One scout, 7-year-old Derrick Jager, said his favorite part of being in Scouts is camping with the Boy Scouts.
