LEMONT – The Kickstarter campaign for musician Steve Grand of Lemont ended Sunday with $326,593 raised from 4,905 backers to create his debut album this spring.

According to a news release, it was the third-most funded music project in Kickstarter's history and the most funded project by a musician never affiliated with a major record label.

Grand's Kickstarter campaign began on Feb. 26 and reached its $81,000 goal in 17 hours.

Grand has said that he will use the money raised beyond his original goal to help with the promotion of the album.

Grand gained notoriety last summer after releasing a YouTube video for his song, "All-American Boy." It was called the first gay country music video.
