Hinsdale South Science Olympiad Team qualifies for state competition

DARIEN – The Hinsdale South High School Science Olympiad Team has qualified for the Illinois Science Olympiad State Competition after a third place finish at the Oakton Community College regional competition on March 22.

Competing against 14 high schools, the team, consisting of seniors Viraj Shah, Sara Wendte, Mohsin Dahodwala, Juniors Colton Ables, Arun Abraham, Lois Anderson, Petar Cirjakovic, Matt Daniel, Mika Deshmukh, Marissa Dupont, Joe Eilbert, Samee Farooqi, Rachel Hawken, Zach Hoffman, Claire Ma, Mary Kate Nowak, Shivali Patel, Jason Yang, Sophomores Shiv Patel, Jimmy Zhang and freshmen Athena Appavu and Tanner Andrulis earned medals in 16 of 23 events, according to a newsletter from Hinsdale South.

The team will now be traveling to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on April 11 to compete against teams from across the state of Illinois, according to the newsletter.
