Scouts from Pack 10 talk to editor Alex Soulier during their visit to the Suburban Life Media newsroom in Downers Grove Friday Mar. 28.

DOWNERS GROVE – Cub Scout Pack 10 visited the Suburban Life Media newsroom Friday afternoon to learn how their hometown newspaper is put together.

Four scouts, brothers Charlie and Jack Doehring, Shreemann Patel and Alex Barbu, who attend Elm School in Burr Ridge and Monroe School in Hinsdale, made the field trip to the newspaper office, located at 1101 W. 31st St. in Downers Grove. The group of boys learned how news stories are researched and written, and also how the stories are put together to form an edition of the newspaper.

The cub scouts are working to achieve their communications requirement for their Tiger Badge.

There are many things the boys like about scouting.

"We have meetings," Charlie Doehring said. Jack Doehring said he likes the fact they get to work with their family.

Shreemann Patel has a favorite as well.

"I like the Blue and Gold Dinner," he said.

"I like to go on the adventures," Alex said.
