Timothy softball goes for youth movement under new coach

Timothy Christian softball will have a young squad this season under first-year coach Aaron Moore. Moore is also the general manager of the Chicago Bandits pro softball team, which plays in Rosemont.

Juniors Kaitlyn Gehrke and Marina Pawela represent some of the more experienced players on the roster, but not many seniors will be on the team this spring. Key graduates like Marisa Voss, currently playing for Wheaton College, and Brittany Scheidt will need to be replaced by younger players like Kaylee Biscan and Emily Gifford.

Biscan is a varsity returner while Gifford steps into the varsity team as a freshman. Both are two-way players.

"We have a very young team again this season and we're asking for several young players to step up and contribute right away and in key positions," Moore said. "The team will work hard and will compete in games. If our pitching and defense can be solid, we have a decent chance to at least match last season's win total."
