Students at Schiesher School in Lisle learned about fire safety from a furry, four-legged teacher on March 19.

Bensenville Police Department Fire Investigator Jack Barba and his K-9 Zoe conducted multiple arson dog demonstrations at the school’s career day event.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Schiesher learned how Zoe uses her keen sense of smell to locate accelerants at crime scenes.

Barba and Zoe were trained through the State Farm Arson Dog Program and are part of the DuPage County Arson Task Force. They assist at fire scenes throughout the area.
