WESTMONT – The Village of Westmont is partnering with DuPage County Creative Recycling, Inc. to host monthly electronic recycling collections in the downtown area directly across from the village hall, 31 W. Quincy Street.

The 2014 Westmont Electronics Recycling Program will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Friday of each month from May through December.

This year, the village is relocating the e-recycling program to the south side of the commuter parking area, just west of the Westmont Train Station and directly across the street from the Village Hall at 31 W. Quincy Street.

“We’re hoping that this new location will be easier to access as well as provide greater visibility,” village trustee and public works committee chair Steve Nero said. “By being in front of the village hall, maybe more people will become aware of the program and take advantage of this opportunity, especially residents in the downtown area.”

“This program has been well-received by residents of the area,” Westmont Public Works Director Steve May said. “Not only is it convenient for for our citizens, but it keeps these items with harmful materials out of landfills.”

The e-recycling program allows residents to safely discard unwanted electronics such as computers, stereos, printers and scanners, cell phones, gaming consoles and microwaves.
