WHEATON – Wheaton businessman Bill Schumann (left) celebrates his 65th birthday charitably on March 7 at the Hilton Lisle.

Schumann asked his guests to donate to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, and the party raised $30,000. He matched that total with his own money, and an anonymous donor matched that amount, yielding $120,000 for the nonprofit, which plans to use the money to purchase a home in Wheaton for wounded women veterans.

Pictured with Schumann is Pam Kostecki, of the shelter.
