Westmont based social media company taps app market
WESTMONT – A local social media venture recently launched a mobile app that allows its users to send and receive messages embedded with photos and playable song lyrics.
In early March, Zaptones, a social media startup based in Westmont, debuted an iPhone application that lets subscribers share photos and play music quotes in a single instant message, according to Zaptones co-founder Ryan Salvino.
Salvino said Zaptones users can create their own messages and scroll through news feeds of recent posts, viewing different Zapshots, or photos paired with the music quote at the same time.
Users can also send private messages to their friends, according to Salvino.
Founded in October 2013 by Salvino, of Burr Ridge, and Hammond, Ind. resident Brian Padove, Zaptones began as a webstie before the business partners launched the complementary mobile app.
Zaptones has a licensing agreement with iTunes, and users have access to any song in the iTunes Music Store. As a result, the Zaptones is only available in the Apple App Store.
Zaptones currently has over 2,000 users, according to Salvino.
