Hinsdale eagle scout honored with Supernova award

Eagle Scout Reece O'Connor, of Hinsdale Troop 8, received the Supernova Award for his technology, science, engineering and mathematics project by the Des Plaines Valley Council, in La Grange. O'Connor was presented with the award by Matthew Thornton, Interim Scout Executive of the Des Plaines Valley Council.

LA GRANGE – The Des Plaines Valley Council recently presented a Hinsdale eagle scout with the Boy Scouts of America's Dr. Bernard Harris Supernova Award.

Reece O'Connor, of Troop 8 in Hinsdale, received the award for his Alternative Energy project in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics program.

O'Connor – the council's first scout to receive the high-level honor –was given the award during the council's recognition banquet.

The Des Plaines Valley Council serves 42 communities in western and southwestern Chicago suburbs.
