New principal search underway at District 53

Published: Thursday, March 20, 2014 12:48 p.m. CST

OAK BROOK – At the March 11 District 53 Board of Education meeting, the board reviewed the search process for a new principal to replace Stephanie Palmer, who resigned to assume the position of principal at Hinsdale South High School.

The board is asking parents, staff and community members to take a survey, and are seeking a small group of parents and teachers to be part of the interview process of potential candidates in mid April.

Plans are to screen applicants and select up to six semi-finalists for interviews. A small group of faculty members, parents, students and administrators will comprise the initial teams, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of candidates, according to the website.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, but no later than April 14. Interviews will be conducted in mid April and the District 53 board hopes to appoint and announce a new principal in late April. A community reception to meet the new principal will be held in May.
