Open house to benefit charity draws shopping crowd

The Catchpenny resale shop, located at 118 E. Main St. in downtown Barrington, hosted an open house March 17. All merchandise was new to the floor. Proceeds benefited Barrington’s Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Being one of three annual open houses, the event drew several customers – many of which waited outside before the shop’s doors opened at 10 a.m.

An all-volunteer staff managed by the Good Shepherd Auxiliary stocks merchandise and assists customers. Unique shop items include clothing for men, women and children, jewelry, fashion accessories, books, music, home decor, bedding and housewares.

Open for nearly 44 years, Catchpenny sales benefit hospital expansion projects. The Catchpenny originally opened Nov. 2, 1970 at 211 Park Ave. in Barrington.
