CICERO – Morton High School District 201 is getting a new scoreboard for Hoffman Stadium that not only will cost the district nothing, but will even earn it some money to boot.
Through a partnership with Side Effects, a sports marketing and fundraising company in Ohio, District 201 will receive an electronic scoreboard at no cost and will enter into a 10-year advertisement revenue sharing agreement with the company.
The estimated cost of the new scoreboard and necessary equipment is $45,000 and the revenue from advertising will be split equally between District 201 and Side Effects.
The company will be responsible for finding local businesses that want to advertise, which will be subject to the district’s approval.
District 201 Chief Financial Officer Ali Mehanti said the district’s share of the advertising revenues is expected to be around $45,000 during the course of the agreement.
District 201 officials said they began exploring several options before partnering with Side Effects when faced with the challenge of funding stadium improvements without using taxpayer money.
