Published: Tuesday, March 18, 2014 10:07 p.m. CST

CICERO – Cicero School District 99 voters approved a referendum to tear down Warren School and replace it with a new, three-story brick structure for a pre-k through third grade school to alleviate overcrowding within the district's schools. The referendum received nearly 63 percent support from voters, according to preliminary results.

The vote comes with no increase in the property tax levy, and it also approves the spending of a portion of the district's approximate $100 million fund surplus.

About 12 percent of the 29,793 registered voters in Cicero cast their ballot on Tuesday.
