List: Eight largest projects on Lemont's 2015 budget

LEMONT – The Village of Lemont included $4,146,800 in capital projects as part of its proposed Fiscal 2015 budget.

The largest projects are:

1. MFT Resurfacing Program

Cost: $685,000

Fund: MFT/Road Improvement

Description: The village plans to resurface and repair the following streets: Lintz Street, John Street, South Main Street, Keepataw Drive, Valley Drive, Custer Street, Park Place, Kip Place, Cass Street, Lemont Street and 119th Street.

2.Land acquisition

Cost: $550,000

Fund: Gateway TIF/Road Improvement

Description: The village is purchasing the property at 10980 Archer Ave., also known as the Horvath property. The property was annexed into the village last July to be part of the Gateway TIF District.

3. Warner Avenue water main replacement

Cost: $523,000

Fund: Water/Sewer/Stormwater

Description: The project has two phases: replacing the water main south of Weimer Avenue to Pfeiffer Avenue and then Pfeiffer to Norton Drive.

4. IMTT culvert replacement

Cost: $465,000

Fund: Water/Sewer/Stormwater

Description: The village will add larger, high capacity culverts for the IMTT complex discharge area from the I&M Canal and the CS&S Canal. The village is seeking partial funding for the project.

5. CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Program

Cost: $305,000

Fund: Road Improvement

Description: The project will replace sidewalks, curbs and driveways on Cass, Division, Fremont, Grant, Holmes, Lemont, Lincoln and Porter streets to prevent tripping hazards and comply with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The project is mostly paid for through a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant.

6. I&M Canal improvements

Cost: $300,000

Fund: Downtown TIF

Description: The village is looking to clean up the canal from the Stephen Street Bridge to the Ed Bossert Bridge.

7. Bridge repairs

Cost: $275,000

Fund: Downtown TIF/Road Improvement

Description: An Illinois Department of Transportation bridge inspection report requires repairs to the Stephen Street and Old Lemont bridges.

8. Main Street paver brick rehabilitation/Budnick Plaza brick replacement

Cost: $200,000

Fund: Downtown TIF

Description: The village will replace old and add new pavers to match the ones on Canal Street.
