WEST CHICAGO – West Chicago police issued 50 traffic citations and 28 written warnings during a traffic enforcement campaign conducted by the police department’s Traffic Safety Unit on March 8 along Roosevelt Road, according to a city news release.

Officers checked for child safety seat and occupant restraint compliance, aggressive driving, excessive speed, distracted driving and driving under the influence as part of the day-long campaign.

By the end of the day, citations and warnings issued included 23 citations and six warnings for excessive speed, 10 citations and five warnings for seat belt or child restraint violations, three no valid driver’s license arrests, and more, according to the release.

The number of warnings indicates the department’s commitment to educating drivers, as well as enforcing laws, the release stated.

Future campaigns are scheduled for April 25 on Arbor Avenue, May 9 on Neltnor Boulevard and June 4 on North Avenue.
