Police: Cicero man beaten for bag of chips

CICERO – A man was strangled and beaten for a bag of chips and a bottle of pop at 8:25 p.m. March 10.

The man told police he was standing in the 1300 block of South Central Avenue when someone approached him from behind and started strangling him. Two other men approached from the front and began to punch the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground.

The three subjects grabbed a bag containing chips and pop and fled northbound on Central Avenue.
