RIVERSIDE – In addition to discussions about a cost sharing agreement between School District 96 and the village and the Landscape Commission's first report to the board on their master plan, trustees also discussed the following:

1. Trustees approved a resolution to allow Riverside to create purchase orders totaling $330,000 for tree maintenance services by D. Ryan Tree and Landscape, LLC. The village is currently in the last year of a five-year contract with D. Ryan for tree and landscaping services, which has already been out to bid. The board needed to approve this year's budget for those services at the meeting. D. Ryan assists the village with ash tree removal, emergency tree clean up and trimming after storms and for general tree trimming in the village.

2. Trustees approved $12,000 for a plan to plant at Patriots Park in Riverside. The village is submitting a grant application that would cover the majority of the funds needed for the project. The village is hoping to receive at $10,000 grant through the ComEd Green Region Program. If received, the village's contribution would be $2,000, but funds were needed to be approved for the project in order to apply for the grant.

3. A motion to appoint Jason Johns to the West Suburban Mass Transit District Board to fill a vacancy. The appointment was unanimously approved by the board. The position became vacant when Riverside's former representative moved out of the village.

4. Trustees also supported a request by UPC Seguin, a nonprofit organization that helps area residents with disabilities, to support UPC Seguin's grant application for a Community Development Block Grant.
