NORMAL – Everything is back to normal for Montini girls basketball.

The Broncos defeated Joliet Catholic 57-44 to win the Class 3A state final Saturday afternoon in Redbird Arena.

It is Montini's fourth title in the past five years. The Broncos took third last year after winning three titles in a row.

The three-girl senior class of Kateri Stone, Sara Ross and Kelly Karlis leave the program with four trophies and three state titles. All three are signed to play for Division I programs next year.

"The end result has been an unbelievable four-year career," Montini coach Jason Nichols said in the postgame interview on the IHSA TV broadcast. "I owe so much to those three girls."

Montini led 28-23 at halftime, but the Angels got back within 34-32 before the Broncos put the game away with hot shooting from 3-point range. Montini made 11 of 20 3-pointers.

Karlis led the Broncos (34-2) with 16 points on 4-for-7 3-point shooting. Sophomore Lea Kerstein scored 13 points and Stone added 12.
