LA GRANGE PARK – The family of Lorraine Kawalek recently asked the local library to begin a Memorial Fund in her honor.

Kawalek died Feb. 23, and was the first female village trustee in La Grange Park. Along with serving as trustee from 1977 to 1983, Kawalek was named the village's Centennial Citizen for the month of November during the village's 100th year anniversary. She was also the Arbor Day recipient in 2008.

Kawalek was well known as the sponsor of Nadine's Festival of the Arts at the La Grange Park Public Library.

Donations can be made on the library's website at www.lplibrary.org.
