The AP recently announced its Class 3A and 4A girls basketball all-state teams, and several players from area schools were selected as the best players in the state.

In Class 4A, Wheaton Warrenville South senior Meghan Waldron was named to the all-state first team. This winter, the point guard averaged 21.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game.

Bolingbrook's Aysia Bugg and Wheaton North's Chrissy Baird, both seniors, were named to the second team, and Hinsdale Central junior Gabrielle Rush was Class 4A honorable mention. Waldron will continue her career at DePaul, Bugg plans to play at Pittsburgh, and Baird is headed to UCLA.

In Class 3A, Montini senior Kateri Stone was named first team all-state. The Colgate-bound guard is averaging 11.8 points per game and has made 93 3-pointers on the season. The 6-foot-1 guard also leads the Broncos in rebounding (5.1 per game) as the team plays for a state title this weekend.
