Wave of Elmhurst Swim Team members compete at regional meet

The Elmhurst Swim team recently had 37 athletes compete at the 2014 Illinois Winter Regional meet at Lyons Township High School. Swimmers from 15 different swim teams participated.

Many Elmhurst Swim Team members swam their personal best and qualified for the state and Senior National meets.

Seventeen individual swimmers made the awards podium with top eight finishes a total of 47 times.

• Connor McCarthy (10-year old division) was first in the 50-yard freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, second in the 500 freestyle, and third in the 50 breaststroke.

• Sam Marlott (16-year old division) was first in the 200 butterfly, third in the 100 butterfly, and sixth in both the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle.

• Brendan Wagner (12 years old) made it to the top of the medal stand in the 200 butterfly. He was second in the 200 freestyle, third in the 500 freestyle, sixth in the 100 freestyle, seventh in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 butterfly.

• Connor Groya (9 years old) was second in the 50 breaststroke, third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

• Molly Hill (16 years old) took second in 100 backstroke, fifth in 200 backstroke, and eighth in both the 400 individual medley and 100 freestyle.

• Molly Kuenstler (18 years old) was second in both the 100 butterfly and 200 IM, sixth in the 100 breaststroke, seventh in the 200 backstroke, and eighth in the 500 freestyle.

• Hannah Nolte (18 years old) placed second in both the 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle, third in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 100 butterfly.

• Claire Pfaff (10 years old) had her best showing in the 100 freestyle with a second place finish. She was fourth in the 50 backstroke and 200 IM, fifth in the 100 backstroke, and sixth in the 200 freestyle.

• Flanagan Waldherr (16 years old) took second in the 1,650 freestyle.

• Meaghan McIntyre (14 years old) placed third in the 1,000 freestyle.

• Matt Binderman (17 years old) was fifth in the 100 breaststroke.

• Daniel Badja (12 years old) was sixth in the 200 breaststroke and seventh in the 50 breaststroke.

• Alex Marlott (14 years old) was sixth in the 500 freestyle.

• Jeremy Harrington (9 years old) was sixth in the 50 butterfly.

• Delaney Tase (12 years old) was sixth in the 400 IM and eighth in the 500 freestyle.

• Ben Howlett (16 years old) took seventh in the 200 butterfly.

• Paula Nolte (15 years old) placed eighth in the 50 freestyle. 
Molly Hill, Molly Kuenstler, Sam Marlott, Perri Brinkmeier, Paula Nolte, Hannah Nolte and Flanagan Waldherr will be competing in this weekend's Speedo Champions Series Championship this weekend in Pleasant Prairie, Wisc.

Connor McCarthy, Anthony Bauer, Anthony Flores, Connor Groya, Jeremy Harrington, Brendan Wagner and Andrew Hausoul will be competing this weekend in the Junior Olympic Age Group Championships at UIC.
