Elmhurst joins state effort to promote severe weather preparedness

ELMHURST – The City of Elmhurst Emergency Management Agency is joining with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to promote severe weather preparedness.

IEMA and the National Weather Service have prepared a Severe Weather Preparedness Guide that provides information on what to do before, during and after a tornado, severe thunderstorm or flooding. Visit www.ready.Illinois.gov to view the guide.

The city encourages residents to take time in March to learn more about how to keep their families safe during severe weather. The majority of Illinois tornadoes occur between April 1 and June 30, but can occur any time, according to a city news release.
