Dupage County announces 2014 scholarship program

Scholarships for low-income college and occupational training students in DuPage County are now available through the Department of Community Services, according to a county news release.

Students can apply for five available Community Services Block Grant scholarships to supplement the cost of tuition, books and other items for a semester or a quarter.

Applicants are required write a 500-word essay or personal statement and provide proof of county residency, gross household income for the past 90 days, and information about members living in the household.

Household income must be at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level.

Official school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a financial aid audit and proof of enrollment in an Illinois accredited institution are also required.

Applications are available at the Community Services Office, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, or online at www.dupageco.org/CSBG. They are due at 4:30 p.m. May 2.
