DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove South High School has launched a “Distinguished Alumni” program to recognize and honor those alumni who have made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations and careers have honored the legacy of excellence at the school.
The school is currently seeking nominations for the inaugural class of “Distinguished Alumni.”
The new tradition will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the school, which opened in 1964.
In selecting its recipients, the committee will consider professional achievement, service to society and service to the school and community.
Recipients of the award will also reflect the school’s core values of being respectful, responsible and engaged. To be eligible, a nominee must have graduated South High on or before 2004. Alumni may be nominated or nominate themselves.
Members of the program will be honored on the Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame, which will be created and located inside the main entrance of the building. A celebration of the Distinguished Alumni members and the school’s 50th anniversary is being planned to take place during Homecoming 2014, Sept. 22-27.
