CAROL STREAM - Wheaton North tried to play spoiler Wednesday night, pushing Glenbard North to its limit.

But a 14-5 run over the last three minutes of the game proved to be the difference as the Panthers pulled away to a 78-69 win, giving them a piece of the DuPage Valley Conference title.

The program's last conference championship came back in 1991.

The score was knotted at 17-apiece after the opening eight minutes and 35-35 at halftime. The Panthers would take a two-point lead into the fourth quarter but the scored ended up knotted again at 64-each. A lay-up by Jeremiah Fleming gave the home team a lead for good and later on during the spurt, a pair of dunks by Justin Jackson and Chip Flanigan provided the exclamation points.

Fleming finished with a game-high 22 points and Kendall Holbert scored 19. Flanigan had 17 and Jackson also checked into double figures with 10.

Glenbard North ended league play with a mark of 12-2.
