York High School to host annual chess tournament

ELMHURST – York High School will host the 18th Annual District 205 Chess Tournament on March 19.

Typically, 250 Elmhurst players from second-graders to high schoolers participate. Awards include trophies, ribbons and raffle prizes.

Players are matched within their grade level and play five matches. Each match will last a maximum of 14 minutes, giving each player seven minutes per game.

The tournament begins at 6 p.m. March 19 in the Commons area at York. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m., and all players must be checked in by 5:50 p.m.
